What dangers did Jewish children face during the Nazi occupation in France?

  1. Dear Nicole,
The Nazis’ aim was to completely eradicate all Jews, regardless of age or gender.
In my village, the local French police was complicit in finding Jews that were hiding. Children were especially vulnerable with no means to survive on their own.
It is estimated that more than 1.5 million Jewish children were killed by the Nazis. That is 25% of all the Jews that died. About 230,000 children were sent to Auschwitz, most of which were immediately killed.
The only outlook a child had if captured by the Nazis was death
